Earlsfield celebrated with two London champions at the london schoolboy finals, but could have had so much more had things gone differently with five boxers making it to the finals held at Feltham. Alfie Arnold was the first Earlsfield boxer to compete and dropped a very close majority points decision to West Ham's Jonny Ellis, the bout was very close from the start with neither boxer able to take control of the contest, Arnold seemed to catch Ellis repeatedly with clean scoring straight shots and in many peoples eyes had done enough to win however on this occasion it was not to be and Ellis took the title by the narrowest of margins.Kane Corby was next in the the ring and avenged an earlier defeat at the hands of Joe Walder (West ham) by coming out on top after three hard fought rounds, the contest was always in the balance but Corby's continual use of the straight left jab proved the difference in the end .Okonini Speare took to the ring against the more experienced L Taylor (Dagenham ABC) and showed he could be a talent for the future after giving his all for three hard rounds, Speare had to soak up some early pressure from Taylor and a standing count in the first round proved he was up against it, Speare rallied well and going in to the third had built up a commanding lead, Speare seemed to tire and allowed Taylor to wrestle control of the contest from him and secure the majority victory. Taylor Ayling provided the second victory of the day with a majority victory over Northolts S Miah while Omar Augustine completed the Earlsfield participation when he was unanimously outpointed by Dagenhams G landers.Kane and Taylor will now box against the champions of the western counties at Feltham Community college on saturday 2nd february.
